Michelle Adrian is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a concentration in “Family, Work, and Gender” from the University of Calgary. She also holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
For the past decade, Michelle’s work in Human Services has supported adults, children, teens, and families in attaining their goals by connecting and fostering personal and familial relationships. Her primary role has been helping parents with parenting techniques and working with families with children with complex needs. She is also passionate about supporting parents with children of all abilities, including autism, ADHD, and varying behavioral challenges, and helping them navigate this time of uncertainty and look toward future possibilities.
Michelle is also a Circle of Security Program (COSP™) Facilitator, an attachment-based parenting program that guides her therapy work with families. She is also an accredited Triple P Practitioner (Standard Stepping Stones, Pathways, Fearless, and Family Transitions) and trained in the Nurturing Parenting program. Michelle is a also a mother to four children (teenagers to young adults) and understands the complexities of raising neurodiverse children.
As a therapist working with children, youth and adults, Michelle uses a Person-Centered and attachment lens. She also enjoys integrating modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy with clients while recognizing the importance of connecting the mind and body to one’s experience.
Michelle is passionate about working with children and providing a play-based therapeutic environment for younger children between 3-12 years old to express themselves. She is completing her training with the Canadian Play Therapy Association and is in the process of becoming a Certified Play Therapist.
Michelle is also trained in EMDR therapy and offers this modality to clients who want to work on resolving trauma, desensitizing negative memories and focusing on their future self.
